Play et as administrator, right click on the icon.

so try this uninstall et
don't forget to save your etkey ,than go to your computer where the game is installed normally delete everything there exept your etkey
than download et install it
and don't forget 2,60 (b) and then run it again if it shows the message again idk what happened than .

Same happen to me on W7 and try to conect to server for a few times and then deleted ET and now play only TrackMania Nation Forever and a puting my money in my money box to earn about 60 € for TrackMania United Forever with original registration key!

try this:
i wrote:go to your ET directory (e.g C:\Program Files\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory), right-click on ET.exe and go to properties.
Then go to Compatibility, and tick "run this program as an administrator".
