Spambots on forum

Postby BigOgr » Fri Aug 30, 2013 12:10

Some spambots are again coming to forum. Maybe its a good idea to disallow automatic registration (admin/moderator approve required to fulfill registration) or consider using stronger capcha.

Example (topic need to be deleted):
http://www.prime-squadron.com/modules.p ... ic&t=11655

Yea, registration only after sending @ to moderator\web site admin, and only players who were seen on server.
But this could be problem with guys like Cesio, who dont play on our server but want to post about ET....

On the other hand, its not wery often happen :? so maybe just leave it like it is now and our special forces will erase every spam post like this 1.....

P.S What are they thinking to posting this kind of crap on our forum ????
That we gonna buy some watches, clothes, used condoms ??
If they post about GOLD Wheels to Pompis PISTACHIO Corsa, well this could pay some attention

These spams are really annoying. No one reads it but when you see new posts you expect something on topic, not some shit.
Ofc mods delete them, but why not deal with this once and for all?

I agree. Its better to deal with it at early stage before it develop into some serious problem (Like exploiting some vulnerability which can be done only after authenticating).

Additional measures are already in place.

What gets through is the 1% or less. The mails I receive whenever a bot is blocked would scare you ;)

It's a bit annoying yes, but we have mods for those few that get through.

There is always that slim possibility where the guy does it by hand, isn't there?
And basing registeration on server presence is bit silly: I cannot fathom that whoever would choose who to let through is a valid or spambot.

my 2 cents and good work on keeping the forums relatively clean. If there was more activity on the forums we wouldn't even notice I think :P
