Formatting my laptop

Postby MoB » Wed Jun 02, 2010 23:28

Hello everyone

My laptop is now just over 1 year old, but it seems to be getting slower every day.
I used to play all my games on high settings, but now I am forced to reduce everything to the lowest settings and even then I get lag sometimes.

I currently have Vista OS. I don't know if this helps, but these are my specs:
Intel Core 2Duo T9300 @2.5Ghz
4GB DDR2 RAM
NVIDIA Geforce 9650M GS

I'm considering formatting my laptop and buying Windows 7.

Do you think this is a good idea? Will it restore my laptop's speed again?
Ideas or thoughts, please tell me ;)

Grtz MoB

I can't, I have to be able to take it with me, because I study in Gent (city in Belgium) and I live at the Belgian coast. So I gotta take the train every week to go home :)!
Can't take an entire PC with me ^^

My advice, download Windows 7 ISO, burn it on a DVD, boot up from it and install :)
You say: "Great Shot!"
I say: "aimbot"

Hehe, well ET is not a problem on my current system either, but I have to play the heavier game like Splinter Cell Conviction on lowest possible settings and even than I only get 40FPS. Althought my nvidia geforce 9650 is quite a decent card I think?

Formatting not always solution! :>

it helps a bit that's correct and maybe with a laptop it helps enough (don't have one myself)
But i've done it to computers 2 or 3 times and it helps a bit but the computer stayed slow :S

maybe 7 is better then vista, i just have XP
but if you change to 7 definitly download instead of paying so much money for something you can easily download from the internet :>

You can always try Ccleaner. Even if it wouldnt work its still good to remove cookies, temp fails etc.

Ok :), I have a friend who formatted his laptop twice already and knows alot about that stuff, so maybe I'll ask him.
