I don't understand why i got banned
The following is happening to me:
On july 25th i downloaded ET for linux from this server:
http://ftp.games.skynet.be/pub/wolfenstein/
Because i am using Ubuntu 7.04
I started playing but punkbuster says im cheating :s. I really don't know how to cheat! I removed my config files but the problem stays. The only thing i want is to play ET normal without problems.
A few years ago i was mod at a CS server. The most thing i hated then was cheating and still now.
I hope you believe me and will help me because its driving me crazy.

Are you sure you enabled punkbuster in the first place?
PB at ps1 (and others) automatic kicks/bans when the client hasnt enabled punkbuster.

i know what is the problem, cause i'm a linux user too
The problem is that you didn't give right permission to PB, so it could'nt update itself, and so you have this #2004 error.
I think you have installed ET in the following directory, right ?
/usr/local/game/enemy-territory
So you have two solution now (or even three) :
1/ Update _manually_ PB (I dont try this solution)
$ sudo your_password
# cd /usr/local/games/enemy-territory/pb
# ./pbweb.x86
2/ move PB in your local directory (I use this solution, cause PB could update itself automatically)
$ cp /usr/local/games/enemy-territory/pb/pbweb.x86 ~/.etwolf/pb/pbweb.x86
$ chmod +x ~/.etwolf/pb/pbweb.x86
Update manually (i dont think that is really necessary, but do it on first time)
$ ~/.etwolf/pb/pbweb.x86
3/ Third solution : Perhaps give user right to /usr/local/game/enemy-territory ? (this is not an elegant solution, so I dont recommand it... )
Now I'm on a Windows station, so I just write this from memory - perhaps should you lightly adapt the above commands.
If any problem, just ask me : i'm still ready to help any happy Linux user

Thanx i'll try it later on. My pc is having problems today
So now im on my laptop.
ET is in /media/hdb1/enemy-territory
(thats because i had enough disk space there
)
Could that also be the problem for the hacked cvar?
Because just now i got the message:
hacked cvar: cg_tracerwidth
Im letting now if the tip works for me.
